Jane Carson-Myre, in accord with her husband, Dr. Louis Myre, established the trust that is now the resource for this foundation. She was the daughter of Luther F. Carson, whose generosity helped many people in the Western Kentucky region and beyond. Jane chose to carry on that legacy of generosity by establishing this organization.
Nearest to Jane's heart were Christian outreach programs, in ministry, education, and aid to those in need. In all such areas, she recognized that the agencies which truly help the most are those which give the message of Christ's love along with whatever other assistance they provide. She also loved this great Nation, and valued the Judeo-Christian principles on which it was founded. Seeing the erosion of those principles, she sought to assist organizations that work to preserve them for the benefit of all citizens.
Jane also loved the arts, and permitted the trustees of her foundation to provide limited grants to such organizations in the region around Paducah, KY.
Knowing that even the best intentions of her foundation's trustees could not prevent eventual divergence from her specific vision, she established the foundation with a limited time of operation. For that reason, this foundation will operate only through the year 2034 before expending the entire resource.
All of us at the Carson-Myre Charitable Foundation are dedicated to carrying out Jane's vision in accord with our mission statement found in Galations 6:2 -- "Bear one another's burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ."
